Do you sometimes watch dogs in the street and wonder if they carry more of the world’s truth in their soft eyes than the people who pass us without notice?
They do not ask questions. They do not weigh your words. They hold no judgment, unlike your favourite cousin.
Yesterday, a small brown dog trotted along the cobblestones, chasing a leaf as if the air itself had secrets to share. I thought of the people I know—hurried, distracted, forgetting the small wonders—and I felt grateful that, in some quiet corner of the world, this dog understood more about joy than any conversation I’ve had.
Do I prefer dogs to people? Yes. Or perhaps I simply prefer honesty. A wagging tail says what a thousand polite words cannot. A soft paw on your knee whispers what no human tongue dares.
I leave this thought here, on this blog that no human visits. But perhaps, when you do, you will read these lines and agree that no one is capable of love like dogs.
